Gross Description obese FVB-db/db female; 24 wk body weight = 49.9 g; plasma glucose = 173 mg/dl
Microscopic Description Higher power view of hypertrophied and hyperplastic islets. The
strongly-positive
aldehyde fuchsin staining of the islets (denoting normal insulin storage) is
consistent with the age-dependent remission from earlier hyperglycemia to
normoglycemia. Note that two enlarged hyperplastic islets are fusing together.
